In early March UNC Greensboro made it official and named Wes Miller the head coach. Miller had taken over for the Spartans in December and after a rocky start the Spartans won the Southern Conference's North division. Now that it's time for him to assemble his coaching staff, he chose to hire former North Carolina Tar Heel team mate, Jackie Manuel, as an assistant coach. Manuel has spent the last year as an assistant strength coordinator for the Tar Heels. This is a great opportunity for Manuel to gain
experience being on the sideline and coaching in-game situations. Manuel is expected to bring a defensive mentality to the Spartans as he was a defensive stopper for the Tar Heel's 2005 National Championship team and a two time All- ACC Defensive team recipient .
This has been a big week for Miller, not only did he hire friend and former team mate, but he also received his first letter of intent as a head coach from Baltimore prep star Kayel Locke.
