In the middle of December the UNC-Greensboro Spartans were 2-8 and their head coach had just been replaced by a 28 year old assistant coach. Former Tar Heel guard Wes Miller was named interim head coach for the Southern Conference's UNC-G Spartans.
The next few games were a little rocky for Miller, who is the youngest active head coach in Division 1. After a loss to Davidson on January 5th the Spartans record fell to 2-14 and 0-4 in conference. That appeared to be a turning point in the season because Miller's Spartans just won their sixth straight game and pulled into a half game behind SoCon's North division leader Elon.
During this streak Miller has won on the road against Bobby Cremins and the College of Charleston Cougars and an overtime win over Appalachian State, who is coached by another former Tar Heel Jason Capel. If Miller can keep this pace up he should be seeing the "interim" title lifted very soon.
